Amenah Gulamhusein

Senior Director, Strategic Initiatives at The San Diego Foundation

As Senior Director of Development, Strategic Initiatives, Amenah leads the development and execution of the fundraising strategy for The Foundation’s strategic initiatives. She works directly with the Community Impact team to build, cultivate and strengthen relationships with donors and ensure consistent resources for the Community Impact Programs.

Prior to joining The Foundation, Amenah served as the Director of Development at People For the American Way, where she managed a diverse major gift and institutional giving team. In this role, she helped the organization build a cohesive grant-seeking strategy and was responsible for soliciting and stewarding multiple transformational gifts. Prior to this, Amenah worked as an independent consultant with leading local and national non-profits to design successful donor-focused fundraising campaigns.

Amenah has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Alberta and a master’s degree in Public Administration from Carleton University in Ottawa.
