Kay Coleman is President & CEO of Del Mar Venture Group. She has over 30 years of experience in strategic planning, process improvement, and change management. Her work has covered a broad spectrum of industries including energy, consumer products, utilities, healthcare, financial services, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, and educational services. In addition, she co-founded Del Mar Venture Group, LLC, an angel investment firm, in 2006 to help entrepreneurs gain access to the capital and management expertise they need to grow in their early years.
Kay is Chair of The San Diego Foundation Board of Governors and also chairs its Executive Committee having previously served as Vice-Chair of its Governance Committee and also on its Finance, Strategic Planning, Compensation and Benefits, and CEO Search Committees. She serves on the National Board of Directors for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, Inc. and chairs the ACS Desert Coastal Area Board, which includes San Diego, Orange, Riverside, Imperial, and San Bernardino counties in Southern California Las Vegas. She previously chaired the Society’s former California Division Board of Directors. In addition, Kay serves as Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Westin Desert Willow Resort in Palm Desert, California.
Kay earned her MBA in Finance and Strategic Planning from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. She also holds a Master of Science degree in Educational and Counseling Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Tennessee. She resides in Encinitas, California.
