Gabe Fernandez

Gabe Fernandez is an experienced sports journalist with a diverse background in reporting, editing, and digital marketing. Currently serving as a Sports Reporter for SFGATE since July 2021, Gabe has previously worked as a Trending Sports Writer for CBS Sports and as a Weekend/Nights Editor for Deadspin. Early career experience includes an editorial internship at Sporting News, where Gabe managed social media and produced SEO-optimized content, and a reporter/photographer role at SB Nation - Testudo Times, covering field hockey and women's basketball. Additional internships involved writing articles on legal and policy topics for Law Street Media, data journalism and graphics editing at Capital News Service, and marketing support at Surfing NSW. Gabe holds a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing and Journalism from the University of Maryland.
