Peter Phillips is an experienced professional in environmental planning and policy, currently serving as the Head of Natural Capital Land Management Policy at The Scottish Government since August 2018. Prior to this role, Peter held positions as a Principal Research Officer and an Honorary Lecturer in Environmental Planning at the University of Strathclyde. Previous experience includes serving as a Principal Consultant and Senior Consultant at Collingwood Environmental Planning, as well as a Strategic Environmental Assessment Technical Officer at Glasgow City Council. Peter began a career as an Environmental Policy Consultant at EnviroCentre. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering, an MSc in Environmental Studies, and a Foundation degree in Forestry, all from institutions including the University of Strathclyde and the University of Cumbria. Additionally, Peter has achieved a Grade 8 in Cello from ABRSM.
