Janet Tu

Janet Tu is an experienced journalist currently serving as the Assistant Features Editor and previously as a Business Reporter at The Seattle Times since August 2011, where coverage includes retail giants like Starbucks and Costco, workforce issues, technology, and Microsoft. Prior to this role, Janet worked at The Seattle Times from 2000 to 2011 as a Staff Reporter, focusing on religion, arts news, and transportation, and previously reported on arts and entertainment as well as metro issues from 1995 to 1998. Additionally, Janet served as the National Secretary for the Asian American Journalists Association from 2006 to 2008, promoting diversity in journalism. Early career experience includes a position as a Staff Writer for the Northwest Edition of The Wall Street Journal, where agribusiness and natural resources were key topics. Educational qualifications include a BA in China regional studies from the University of Washington, an MPA from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, and further studies in Chinese language at National Taiwan University.
