Anne McMaster

Instructor at The Second City

Anne McMaster has a diverse work experience in the comedy industry. Anne began their career in 2003 as a comedian, performer, writer, and producer working independently. Anne then worked as an improviser at On the Spot Improv from 2003 to 2007 and as a professional actor at Magnolia Events from 2007 to 2009.

In 2008, Anne became a full cast member at Calgary's "Improv Guild," where they performed at the Calgary Improv Festival and participated in gala performances with well-known comedians such as Colin Mochrie, Patti Stiles, and Roman Danylo. Anne also organized and coached the Calgary High School Theatersports Championship. Their tenure at the Calgary Improv Guild lasted until 2012.

From 2009 to 2017, Anne worked as an arts educator at Think Fast Comedy, providing comedy training for youth and teens in both English and French. Anne also served as an instructor and company member at The Courtyard Playhouse, teaching improv comedy.

In 2017, Anne produced, wrote, and hosted the show "Date Night Comedy: Totally Worth a Babysitter" until 2019.

More recently, Anne joined Bad Dog Theatre Company in 2019 as a comedian and became a part of the Season 6 Featured Players Ensemble until 2021.

Throughout their career, Anne has consistently demonstrated their talent and passion for comedy, showcasing their skills as an instructor, performer, writer, producer, and host.

Anne McMaster has a diverse educational background spanning several years. Anne began their education in 1982 at St Clement's School, where they obtained an OSSD. Following this, from 1995 to 1999, they pursued a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in Philosophy at the University of Toronto.

In 2003, Anne McMaster enrolled in the Conservatory Program, Improv A-D, Stand Up 1, Killer Choices, The ToolBox, and Satire Writing courses at The Second City Training Centre, completing their studies in 2017. Anne also attended the American Comedy Institute in 2006, focusing on Stand Up comedy.

Anne continued their education in 2017 with the Studio Series and Featured Players programs at The Bad Dog Theatre Company. More recently, they pursued further studies at McMaster University, where they are currently engaged in the Mindfulness in Modern Society program since 2020. In 2021, they successfully completed a Certificate in Mindfulness in Modern Society from McMaster University.
