Senior Companion Program Director at The Senior Source

Melissa Gomez has worked in volunteer management operations since 2004. Melissa began their career as a Volunteer Coordinator at the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas in 2004, where they acquired and supervised volunteer program leaders across 11 geographic areas. In 2015, they moved to Altus Hospice as a Volunteer Coordinator, where they co-wrote training programs to ensure high-quality delivery of volunteer programs. In 2016, they joined Innovate Health Care as a Volunteer Coordinator, where they streamlined volunteer operations across four locations. In 2017, they became a Volunteer Coordinator at Good Shepherd Hospice, where they owned development of the hospice’s volunteer department and drove special projects to improve recruitment rates, acquisition and retention, and pipeline development. In 2019, they joined The Senior Source as a Senior Companion Program Director and Senior Corps Program Assistant Director. In their role, they partner with the director of a federally-backed care program to streamline volunteer management operations, overseeing the activities of 63 senior volunteers to ensure program success. Most recently, they have overseen the integration of COVID-19 safety measures into existing training curriculum, conducting virtual onboarding sessions on a bi-weekly basis.

Melissa Gomez completed their Bachelor's Degree in Health Studies from Texas Woman's University in 2002, followed by their Master's Degree in Family Studies from the same university in 2004.
