Emma Finkel is an experienced educator with a strong background in teaching and research. Currently serving as the Lead Teacher at The Shefa School since August 2021, Emma previously taught third grade at DREAM (formerly Harlem RBI) from August 2018 to June 2021. Emma's educational journey includes participation in Teach For America from June 2018 to June 2020, and various research roles, including Research Assistant at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Center for Mental Health Policy and Services Research. Emma holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Minor in Biological Basis of Behavior from the University of Pennsylvania and completed a Bachelor's degree in Psychology at UCL in 2016. Emma's academic foundation was laid at Millburn High School, graduating in 2014.

The Shefa School is a Jewish community day school in Manhattan serving students in grades 1–8 who benefit from a specialized educational environment in order to develop their strengths while addressing their learning challenges. We specifically serve students with language-based learning disabilities who have not yet reached their potential levels of success in traditional classroom settings. Shefa is a pluralistic community school serving families across the range of Jewish involvement and observance.
