Sam Hampton, PhD, serves as the Executive Director at The Social Justice Film Festival and Institute since 2020 and is also a member of its Advisory Council. From January 2021 to December 2023, Sam held senior management consulting roles at 501 Commons, including Director of Management Consulting Services and Next Level Program Manager. Sam co-founded and directed operations at Docs In Progress from 2007 to 2020, where responsibilities included program development and training supported by the National Endowment for the Arts. Additionally, Sam is a partner at Hampton Consulting & Film LLC, focusing on education and community development for underserved populations. Sam has served on the Board of Trustees at The Harley School and participated in the selection committee for the AFI DOCS. Earlier roles include Executive Director at Capitol Hill Computer Corner and Program Manager for a technology transfer project at The Executive Leadership Council. Sam earned a PhD in Urban Education and Leadership and a Master’s in Psychology from Cleveland State University, along with a post-doctoral fellowship at Emory University’s Frye Leadership Institute.
