The Stakehold is a weekend newsletter covering the rise of employee ownership, purpose trust and steward ownership, democratic workplaces, the ownership economy.

We publish reporting, analysis, profiles, and explainers that highlight the people, models, and movements reshaping how work is owned and governed. From perpetual purpose trusts to co-ops, platform ownership to profit sharing, we track the growing field of shared ownership and its implications for business, policy, and democracy.

Our aim is to make these ideas legible, actionable, and compelling to a wide audience. We write for founders and funders, worker-owners and policy strategists, researchers and students—anyone invested in a fairer, more participatory economy.

The ownership economy is a set of tools, values, and transitions already reshaping companies and communities. We cover that shift as it happens with rigor, clarity, and imagination.

Topics we cover include:
• Employee Ownership Trusts (EOTs) and Perpetual Purpose Trusts (PPTs)
• Employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs)
• Worker cooperatives
• Platform and data trusts
• Equity, governance, and workplace democracy
• Policy change and capital innovation
• Case studies, legal infrastructure, and ecosystem builders
