Rob Thompson

Rob Thompson is an experienced photographer and online producer currently working part-time at The State Newspaper, focusing on event photography for the publication's online platform. In addition to this role, Rob serves as a part-time night watchman at Riverbanks Zoo. As the Chief Photographer for the South Carolina Department of Transportation since 1991, Rob is responsible for photographing transportation-related subjects statewide and also engages in portrait photography, newspaper layout and design, as well as ID badge management. Rob is the owner and freelance photographer at Rob Thompson Photography, specializing in wedding photography, bridal portraits, special events, and general portraiture. Previous experience includes a part-time position as a Photography Technician for the State Newspaper from 2002 to 2009. Rob holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Photojournalism from the University of South Carolina, along with coursework in Journalism and Photography from the University of Maryland and the University of South Carolina.
