Dr. Kortnee L. Burrell

Dr. Kortnee L. Burrell currently serves as the Director of Retention at The State University of New York, a role initiated in February 2024. With a strong background in academic advising, Dr. Burrell has been a College Advisor at CareerVillage.org since July 2018, assisting youth from low-income communities in achieving professional success. Previous positions include Student Success Lecturer and Retention and Graduation Specialist at The Collins College of Hospitality Management at Cal Poly Pomona, along with various roles focused on student retention and success at institutions such as Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science, California State University, Fullerton, and the University of Southern California. Dr. Burrell holds a Doctor of Education in Community College/Higher Education Educational Leadership from California State University, Long Beach, along with a Master of Education in Postsecondary Administration and Student Affairs from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Arts in English Rhetoric and Composition from California State University, Long Beach.
