Mary Norkol

Mary Norkol is an experienced journalist with a strong focus on reporting issues related to homelessness and poverty in Horry County, South Carolina, currently serving as a Reporter for The Sun News since June 2020. Prior to this role, Mary worked as a Breaking News Correspondent for Daily Herald Media Group and held various positions at Chicago Sun-Times, including Editorial Intern, where Mary contributed to an arts project. While an Editor-in-Chief at Loyola Phoenix, Mary managed a sizable editorial team and maintained content quality across sections. Additional experience includes investigative work at WBBM | CBS Chicago and internships at CAIR-Chicago and 826CHI. Mary holds a degree in Multimedia Journalism and Global and International Studies from Loyola University Chicago.
