Johan Stokking has a diverse work experience in the technology and software development industry. Johan is currently the CTO & Co-founder of The Things Industries, a company that provides LoRaWAN products and services for the Internet of Things. Prior to that, they worked as a Tech Lead at The Things Network, where they focused on creating abundant data connectivity for the Internet of Things. Johan also served as the Chairman of the Security Work Group at LoRa Alliance, where they were responsible for ensuring the security of the LoRaWAN standard. Before these roles, they were the owner of Emando B.V., a software development firm that specialized in delivering custom solutions for national sports federations. Johan's early work experiences include serving as a Graduate Intern at Accenture and a Student Consultant at The Dow Chemical Company.
Johan Stokking completed their education at the University of Groningen. Johan first completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Industrial Engineering and Management, from 2006 to 2011. Johan then went on to pursue their Master of Science (MSc) degree in the same field of study at the same university, from 2011 to 2014. In 2014, Johan also obtained a B2-level certification in French from UvA Talen.
