Ajay Das

VP, Strategy & Business Development at The Timken

Ajay Das is currently the VP of Strategy & Business Development at The Timken Company. Prior to this, they served as a member of the board of directors for Timken India Limited from October 2014 to March 2020. Ajay was also the National Sales Manager at Timken India Limited from January 1996 to May 2001, where they were responsible for establishing Timken as a market leader in aftermarket and target OEM accounts in automotive, off highway, and industrial applications. In their role as National Sales Manager, Ajay was also responsible for customer service, pricing and margin target achievement, as well as new business development and new product sales in India. Ajay successfully reengineered the distributor channel from product focused to market focused channels, and designed and introduced innovative anti-counterfeit packaging. Under Ajay's leadership, the brand changed from Tata Timken to Timken post the buyout of JV by Timken. This massive communication exercise included changing the brand name, packaging changes, legal entity name changes, channel communication and end user communications. Thanks to Ajay's dedication and leadership, Timken has become a globally recognized brand known for its excellence in customer service and logistics.

Ajay Das studied mechanical engineering at the National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur before completing a postgraduate diploma in business management at XLRI Jamshedpur with a specialization in marketing and operations management. Ajay then pursued executive education at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business in general management, followed by executive education at Stanford Graduate School of Business in corporate entrepreneurship.

Ajay Das reports to Richard G. Kyle, President & CEO. They work with Sanjay Koul - MD & Director of Manufacturing, India, Lan Yu - President of Timken China, and Timothy A. Graham - VP, Bearing Operations.
