James H. Morgens

Advisor, Georgia at The Trust for Public Land

Jim Morgens, past chair of the Georgia Advisory Council, has been president of Morgens Property & Investment Company since 1978.

Through MPIC and in partnership with others, he has developed and marketed a wide range of real estate projects, including single-family communities, office parks, and small retail centers and office buildings. Concurrently, he has been officer and director of a number of publicly held real estate and building related companies, including Great American Management & Investment, Inc. (1981-82) and National Gypsum Co. (1993-95), and two private companies, Data Pro, Inc. (1988-93) and Tel-Care, Inc. (1993-96).

He currently serves on the boards of several non-profit organizations in addition to The Trust for Public Land, including Odyssey (summer academic enrichment for disadvantaged children), the High Museum, and the Carlos Museum. For his long-time participation and contributions to TPL, Jim will receive the Douglas P. Ferguson Award for Outstanding National Volunteer in 2014. The Trust for Public Land’s highest honor is made to outstanding volunteers in recognition of their extraordinary commitment to conserving land for people and to The Trust for Public Land.
