The Tufts Daily
Simrit Uppal is an experienced individual with a strong background in research and writing. Currently serving as a Volunteer Research Intern at Massachusetts General Hospital since September 2019, Simrit has also contributed to The Tufts Daily as an Editorial Writer since September 2018. In leadership roles at Tufts University, Simrit has held positions as the Conference Director General and Operations Director for the Tufts Model United Nations. Previous experience includes a role as a Visiting Cardiothoracic Surgery Research Scholar at The Feinstein Institute and work as a Cardiac Surgery Research Assistant at Michigan Medicine. Additionally, Simrit was an Alternative Medicine Intern at Northern Westchester Hospital. Simrit graduated from Tufts University in 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science degree in Child Study & Human Development and Biopsychology, having previously earned a high school diploma from John Jay High School in 2017.

The Tufts Daily
The Tufts Daily is the entirely student-run newspaper of record at Tufts University in Medford, Mass. An editorially and financially independent organization, the Daily’s staff of more than 200 covers news, features, arts and sports on Tufts’ four campuses and in its host communities. The Daily’s editorial board and columnists provide opinions and commentary alongside op-eds submitted by readers and members of the Tufts community. In recent years, the Daily has also expanded into multimedia, including podcasts and videojournalism. Founded in 1980, the Daily publishes a print edition each week and a digital edition every weekday during the academic year.
