Sam Berlow

Owner Founder at The Type Founders

Sam Berlow has a wealth of experience in the field of type design and management. Starting in 1986, they worked as a Job Developer at the Boston Private Industry Council for four years. Sam then moved on to Apple, where they worked as an Apple Computer Educational Sales representative from 1990 to 1992. Following this, they joined Font Bureau, one of the original digital type foundries, as the General Manager, a position they held for 26 years until 2018. During their time at Font Bureau, they co-founded Fontsinuse.com in 2011 and served as a Founding Partner until 2018. In 2016, they became a Co-Founder of Type Network, a private company that focuses on type design, development, and licensing. In 2018, they transitioned to Adobe as a Senior Product Manager until 2020. Most recently, they took on the role of Strategic Advisor at The Readability Consortium in 2020 and is currently serving as the Chief Product Officer at The Type Founders since 2021.

Sam Berlow attended Madison West High School from 1976 to 1980. Following this, they pursued their higher education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1980 to 1985. At the university, they obtained a degree in American Institutions with a focus on Afro-American Studies and Constitutional Law.
