The Unconventional
Carisma O. is a seasoned educator with extensive experience in teaching Spanish at various academic levels. Currently serving as a High School Spanish Teacher at Virginia Beach City Public Schools since August 2021, Carisma has effectively managed a classroom of 100 students while developing a comprehensive yearlong curriculum. In addition, Carisma provides tailored Distance Learning foreign language instruction for Military Personnel at The Unconventional, and previously received the LREC Navy Special Warfare Language Instructor Award while working as an Associate Language Instructor at Yorktown Systems Group. Earlier teaching experience includes Spanish instruction at St. Patrick Catholic School for 6th and 7th graders. Carisma holds a degree in Post-Secondary Studies with a focus on Foreign Language Methods from Weber State University and two Bachelor's degrees in Psychology from Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México.

Our unique approach to training allows students to interact with native speakers in the target language in a functional real-life environment while completing task-based activities outside of the traditional classroom environment.
