Nyesha C. Black

Nyesha C. Black, Ph.D. has a diverse work experience spanning several years. Nyesha C. is currently the Director of Demographic Research at The University of Alabama, a role they have held since July 2020. Prior to this, they served as the Managing Director of Research at Noire Analytics starting from September 2018. From 2015 to 2018, they worked at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, first as a Teaching Assistant Professor and then as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. Before that, they were a Research Assistant and Instructor at The Pennsylvania State University from 2009 to 2014, and an Economics Intern at USDA in 2013. Nyesha C. also gained experience as a Human Resources Clerk at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for a year and as a Community and Economic Development Intern at Main Street Birmingham, Inc. in 2007.

Nyesha C. Black, Ph.D. holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Demography and Sociology from Penn State University, which they obtained from 2012 to 2014. Prior to that, they earned a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Demography and Sociology from Penn State University between 2009 and 2011. Nyesha C. completed their undergraduate studies at The University of Alabama, receiving a Bachelor's degree in Economics from 2007 to 2009. Before attending university, they attended Shelton State Community College, where they obtained an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree in Business Administration and Management in 2006. Nyesha also completed their high school education, receiving an Advanced Diploma from Sulligent High School in 2005.

Nyesha Black also holds additional certifications, including a Certificate in Advanced Spatial Pattern Analysis for Population Scientists from The Center of Spatially Integrated Social Sciences at the University of California, Santa Barbara, which they obtained in 2010. Nyesha C. also has a Business Research Certificate from the University of Alabama at Birmingham - Collat School of Business, although the exact year of completion is unknown.
