Ameera Haamid, MD, FAEMS, serves as an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and Associate EMS Medical Director at UChicago Medicine since February 2022, where responsibilities include providing care in the emergency department and teaching emergency medicine residents. Additionally, Ameera holds the position of Board Member and Chief Research Director for the MedCEEP Initiative, focusing on empowering underrepresented minority youth in medical emergency recognition and treatment. As National Co-Chair of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee for the National Association of EMS Physicians, Ameera works to enhance diversity in EMS medicine through mentorship and education. Previous experience includes roles as an IMPACT-Executive Leadership Fellow with the Chicago Urban League, and prior positions at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County and Denver Health, where Ameera completed an EMS fellowship and emergency medicine residency. Ameera earned a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Illinois College of Medicine and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Jackson State University.
