Charlene Hope has extensive experience in the field of pharmacy and medication safety. Charlene is the Chief Pharmacy Quality and Safety Officer at UChicago Medicine, where they provide executive-level leadership for the Medication Quality and Safety Program. Charlene formulates strategic plans for pharmacy programs and services to advance the organization's mission for service, quality, and affordability. Charlene also designs system initiatives to minimize the possibility of future errors.

Prior to their current position, Charlene served as the Director Of Pharmacy at MacNeal Hospital. During this time, they oversaw the daily operations of inpatient, outpatient, and ambulatory care pharmacy services. Charlene ensured that the pharmacy department provided optimal services while meeting legal, accreditation, and certification requirements.

Charlene also worked at Tenet Healthcare as the Regional Pharmacy Quality and Safety Manager, where they developed and monitored a comprehensive regional pharmacy strategy to enhance quality, safety, and medication-related risks and adverse events. Charlene performed assessments and created a Pharmacy Quality and Safety Dashboard to monitor established metrics and process improvement across all Chicago Market hospitals.

Additionally, Charlene co-founded and served as the CEO of Medication Safety at Home, where they focused on improving medication safety for patients.

Charlene Hope, PharmD, MS, CPPS, CPHQ received their Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from Midwestern University. Charlene then pursued a Master of Science (MS) in Healthcare Quality and Patient Safety from Northwestern University - The Feinberg School of Medicine. Charlene also holds a Certificate in Project Management from Loyola University Chicago. Charlene has obtained multiple additional certifications, including Certified Professional in Patient Safety and Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality® (CPHQ). Charlene has also completed courses in leadership principles, implementation design, and design thinking.
