Tessa Balach has a diverse work experience history. Tessa is currently serving as the Interim Chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation Medicine at The University of Chicago since March 2023. Prior to this, they held several positions at the University of Chicago, including Professor, Vice Chair of Education, and Associate Professor. Tessa also worked as the Executive Director of Learning and Engagement at UChicago Medicine starting from October 2021. Tessa Balach began their career at The University of Connecticut Health Center as an Assistant Professor from September 2011 until June 2016.

Tessa Balach completed their Bachelor of Arts in Biology/Biological Sciences at the University of Chicago. Later, they obtained their Doctor of Medicine degree from New York Medical College.
