John Crossin is currently engaged in synthetic biology plant research at Wilson Nurseries Inc. and UIUC Burgess Lab, focusing on plant genetic engineering for ornamental species. Additionally, John is an undergraduate researcher in the Berman Environmental Neuroscience Lab at the University of Chicago, where research addresses environmental inequities and public health disparities in urban areas, utilizing trees as bioindicators. Active in the PHI Delta Epsilon Medical Fraternity, John initiated a fundraising project involving the cultivation and sale of hanging flower baskets. Experience as a rehabilitation aide at Elevate Physical Therapy & Performance Training Center involves direct patient interaction, while various shadowing roles in sports medicine, orthopedic anesthesiology, and cardiology have enriched clinical knowledge. Previous work experience includes a research assistant position in plant pathology and an internship in environmental restoration, both contributing to a comprehensive understanding of plant biotechnology.
