Torsten Reimer

Torsten Reimer is the University Librarian & Dean of the University Library at The University of Chicago. Torsten has held this position since January 2017. Prior to that, they were the Scholarly Communications Officer at Imperial College London from January 2013 to December 2016. Before that, they were Programme Manager at JISC from January 2010 to December 2013.

Torsten started their career as a Research Assistant at Bayerische Staatsbibliothek from January 1999 to December 2000. Torsten then became the Web Coordinator at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München from January 2006 to December 2006. Torsten was then promoted to Research Associate (starting as Research Assistant) and held that position from January 1998 to December 2003. After that, they became a freelancer (media, software, marketing) from January 1996 to December 2002.

In 2007, they returned to the workforce and started as the Development Manager (Community Infrastructures and e-learning) at King's College London from January 2007 to December 2008. Torsten was then promoted to Senior Research Project Coordinator and held that position from January 2008 to December 2010.

Torsten Reimer has a Ph.D. from Ludwig-Maximilians Universität München and a Magister Artium from the same school.

Torsten Reimer reports to Ka Yee Lee, Provost. They are on a team with David Levin - Senior Advisor to the Provost for the Arts, Katherine Baicker - Dean, Harris School of Public Policy Studies, and Angela V. Olinto - Dean, Physical Sciences Division.
