Joanna Ross Hersey

Joanna Ross Hersey serves as the Associate Dean of Student Success and Curriculum and an Assistant-Associate Professor of Music at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke since August 2007. Additionally, Joanna is involved with the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary as a Flotilla Staff Officer for Vessel Examination and previously held a role focused on promoting diversity within the Auxiliary. Joanna has extensive experience in music, holding positions such as Principal Tuba with the Carolina Philharmonic and the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra, as well as performing with The Alchemy Tuba Euphonium Quartet. Educational credentials include a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Hartford, a Master of Music from the New England Conservatory, and ongoing studies in Management, Marketing, and Data Analytics at North Carolina State University, along with a Master of Arts in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
