Michael Hood

Michael Hood is a distinguished professional in the field of mining engineering with extensive experience spanning several decades. Currently an elected Fellow at the Australian Academy of Technology & Engineering and a Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Hood has contributed significantly to academia and industry. As Professor Emeritus at The University of Queensland, Hood also serves as Program Chair for the World Mining Congress 2023. Michael's leadership as CEO of CRCMining helped establish the organization as a leading mining research center. Additionally, Hood has served as Chair of the Queensland Division of ATSE and held a position as Principal at Sierra Consulting, providing expert advice on mining technology. Hood's academic journey includes a Ph.D. in Mining Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand, alongside Bachelor's degrees in Mining and Mechanical Engineering from Newcastle University.
