Michael Mangan is an accomplished researcher and educator with extensive experience in machine learning, robotics, and bioinformatics. Currently serving as VP of Research at Opteran and holding positions as Senior Lecturer and Research Director at The University of Sheffield since 2018, Michael focuses on leveraging robots to study insect navigation in complex environments. Previous academic roles include Research Fellow at The University of Edinburgh, where research centered on the navigational behavior of desert ants, and Senior Lecturer at the University of Lincoln. Michael's entrepreneurial spirit is evident as a co-founder of Spectral Robotics and a founding member of Edinburgh Hacklab.
