Derek Patton

Derek Patton is the current Director of the School of Polymer Science and Engineering at The University of Southern Mississippi. Derek has held this position since June of 2008. Prior to that, they were a NRC Postdoctoral Associate at the National Institute of Standards and Technology from 2006 to 2008. Derek Patton started their career as a Graduate Student at the University of Houston from 2003 to 2006.

Derek Patton attended Jacksonville State University for their undergraduate degree in chemistry. Derek then went on to earn their Masters in Chemistry from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Finally, they completed their Ph.D. in Chemistry/Polymer Science from the University of Houston.

A direct report to Derek Patton is and Melanie Bryan - Manager of Finance and External Relations. Derek Patton reports to Steven R. Moser, Provost & SVP, Academic Affairs.
