Rusty Keyes

Rusty Keyes serves as the Assistant Vice President for Public Safety and Chief of Police at The University of Southern Mississippi since July 2019, after a lengthy tenure at the University of Southern Mississippi Police Department from June 2006 to April 2019, where positions included Assistant Chief of Police, Detective Captain, and Detective Lieutenant. Keyes also gained experience at the Hattiesburg Police Department, holding various roles from Patrol Lieutenant to Detective Lieutenant and Detective Sergeant between 1990 and 2006. Educational credentials include a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice Administration with a minor in Sports Medicine from the University of Southern Mississippi, earned between 1986 and 1990.
