Michael Standard

Michael Standard currently serves as an Assistant Professor and Studio Librarian at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga since December 2022. Additionally, Michael co-founded the Homegrown New Music Ensemble in July 2019 and holds the position of Operations Director, focusing on supporting composers through various means such as performances and workshops. Previous experience includes roles as Event Technical Lead at Encore, Adjunct Instructor at the University of Tampa, and Percussion Director for the Tampa Metropolitan Youth Orchestra. Michael's background in music technology encompasses positions at the University of South Florida as a Production Technician and Graduate Teaching Assistant, as well as a Music Technology Instructor at Charles R Drew Charter School. Michael earned a Master's Degree in Music Composition and Electronic Music from the University of South Florida and a Bachelor of Music in Music Theory and Composition from Georgia State University.
