James Davis

SVP & COO at The University of Texas at Austin

James Davis is currently the VP of Legal Affairs & Business Strategies at The University of Texas at Austin. Prior to this, they served as the Deputy Attorney General for Civil Litigation from January 2015 to November 2018. Before that, they were a partner and head of Regulatory and Administrative Litigation at Locke Lord LLP from August 2000 to December 2014. From August 1999 to August 2000, they were a briefing attorney for Justice Alberto Gonzales at the Supreme Court of Texas. James also served in the US Navy as a cryptographer from January 1988 to December 1992, where they were assigned to the U.S. Naval Security Group at RAF Edzell, Scotland.

James Davis attended Harvard Law School and The University of Texas at Austin, where they earned a J.D. and B.A. in James'story, respectively.
