Mike Peppers

Mike Peppers has a strong background in auditing and governance. Mike served as a Board Member at the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO) starting in 2023. Prior to that, they were the Chief Audit Executive at The University of Texas System since 2013. Peppers also held leadership positions at The Institute of Internal Auditors Inc., serving as Chairman of the International Internal Audit Standards Board from 2019 to 2023 and as Chairman of the Global Board of Directors from 2017 to 2018. Before that, they were Vice President & Chief Audit Officer at MD Anderson Cancer Center from 2005 to 2012, Director of Audit Services at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston from 1999 to 2004, and Inspector General at the University of South Florida from 1990 to 1999. Peppers started their career as a Senior Auditor at Price Waterhouse from 1987 to 1990.

Mike Peppers obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from the University of South Florida in 1985. Mike then pursued further education and earned a Master of Accountancy degree in Accounting from the same university in 1990. Additionally, Mike Peppers has additional certifications in Risk Management Assurance, Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Public Accountant, and Qualification in Internal Audit Leadership.
