Amanda Hemmelgarn

VP, Outpatient Services at The Village for Families & Children

Amanda is responsible for oversight and development of all of The Village’s outpatient services. Since she joined The Village in 2003, Amanda has been involved in managing and directing clinical programs, helping to expand the array and delivery of services and where clients can access them. For example, as director of the Enhanced Care Clinic, she expanded the provision of services to numerous schools in Hartford and to The Village’s preschool program.

Amanda is passionate about providing families with a variety of treatment options to meet their individual needs. She was responsible for bringing EMDR, an effective memory processing treatment for children and adults suffering with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), to The Village Collaborative Trauma Center.

She also served as director of a safe home at The Village, a residential program for children who could benefit from short-term treatment and care.

In addition to her work at The Village, she is also a faculty field advisor/adjunct instructor for Smith College School for Social Work.

A licensed clinical social worker, Amanda earned her master’s in social work from Smith College and a bachelor’s from Skidmore College.
