William Lewis is the current CEO and Publisher of The Wall Street Journal. Prior to this, they held various positions at Dow Jones, REA Group, News Corporation, News International, and Telegraph Media Group. William has also worked as a business editor for the Sunday Times and as a global news editor for the Financial Times.
Lewis began their career in 1994 as a business journalist for the Financial Times. William quickly rose through the ranks, becoming the paper's M&A Editor and then Global News Editor. In 2002, they left the Financial Times to become Business Editor of the Sunday Times.
Three years later, they joined Telegraph Media Group as Editor of their flagship newspaper, The Daily Telegraph. William was eventually promoted to Editor in Chief, a position they held until 2010 when they left to join News International.
At News International, Lewis served as Group General Manager before becoming a member of News Corporation's Management and Standards Committee in 2011. The following year, they were appointed Chief Creative Officer of News Corporation.
In 2013, Lewis left News Corporation to join REA Group as a Non-Executive Director. William held this position until January 2014 when they became CEO of Dow Jones. William remained at Dow Jones until May 2020 when they were appointed CEO and Publisher of The Wall Street Journal.
William Lewis attended Harvard Business School, where they earned an AMP in Economics and Politics. William also earned a Journalism Diploma from City, University of London. William Lewis also holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Economics and Politics from the University of Bristol.
