Christine Sciacca

Curator - European Art, 300-1400 CE at The Walters Art Museum

Christine Sciacca has a diverse work experience in the field of art curation and museum education. Christine currently serves as the Curator of European Art, specializing in the period from 300 to 1400 CE, at The Walters Art Museum since July 2021. Prior to this, they worked as the Associate Curator of European Art at the same museum since February 2017.

Before joining The Walters Art Museum, Sciacca was an Assistant Curator at the J. Paul Getty Museum from July 2006 to February 2017. Christine also worked as a Lecturer at The Cloisters Museum, Metropolitan Museum of Art from February 2000 to June 2006.

Sciacca gained valuable experience as the Carol Bates Fellow at The Walters Art Museum in 2005 and as the American Trust Intern at The British Library in 2003. Christine also served as a Curatorial Intern, focusing on the Permanent Collection, at the Whitney Museum of American Art in the summer of 1998. Additionally, they gained experience as a Curatorial Intern at the Herbert F. Johnson Museum, Department of Prints, Drawings, and Photographs from 1996 to 1998, and as a Registrarial Intern at the Guggenheim Museum in the summer of 1997.

Christine Sciacca's education history includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History from Cornell University, which they obtained from 1994 to 1998. Christine then pursued further education at Columbia University, earning a Master's degree, a Master of Philosophy degree, and a Doctorate degree in Art History from 1998 to 2008.
