Anna Fifield

Asia-pacific Editor

Anna Fifield is an experienced journalist currently serving as the Asia-Pacific Editor at The Washington Post since January 2023 and as a board director for the Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma since June 2024. Fifield has a robust background in international reporting, having worked as the Beijing and Tokyo bureau chief for The Washington Post from 2014 to 2020, where coverage included Japan, the Koreas, and East Asia. Prior to that, experience at Stuff included roles as the Editor of the Dominion Post and Wellington editor. Earlier in the career, Fifield worked for the Financial Times as a US Political Correspondent and Middle East Correspondent, covering critical events and social issues in various countries. Educational credentials include a Nieman Fellowship at Harvard University and a post-graduate diploma in Journalism from the University of Canterbury, along with a Bachelor of Arts in English language and literature from Victoria University of Wellington.
