Tom Schad

Tom Schad is a seasoned sports journalist currently serving as the Commanders beat reporter for The Washington Post since August 2025. Prior to this role, Schad worked at USA TODAY for nearly eight years in various capacities, including sports enterprise reporter and football reporter. Schad's earlier experience includes positions as a Memphis football beat reporter for The Commercial Appeal and sports reporter roles at The Washington Times. Schad began a career in journalism at The Washington Post, covering high school sports, and has also contributed to Major League Baseball's MLB.com and The Baltimore Sun as a sports intern. Educationally, Schad holds a B.A. in Print Journalism and Interdisciplinary Studies from American University.
