Chris Ostrander

Chris Ostrander serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Marine Technology Society since March 2022, leading initiatives that drive ocean innovation and sustainable marine technology. Additionally, Ostrander holds the position of Co-Chair for the Ocean Research Advisory Panel at The White House, providing strategic guidance on national ocean research priorities. Previous roles include Senior Advisor at the Pacific Islands Ocean Observing System and various leadership positions at the University of Utah, where responsibilities included industry engagement and securing significant funding for research initiatives. With a strong background in oceanic sciences and policy, including a tenure as Director of Foundation Relations at NOAA, Ostrander's expertise encompasses strategic planning, fundraising, and the development of collaborative partnerships in the marine sector. Educational credentials include a B.A. in Political Science from The Johns Hopkins University and an M.S. in Physical Oceanography from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
