Harold Baillie

Chair of the Graduate Medical Education at The Wright Center for Community Health

Harold Baillie, Ph.D., serves as Chair of The Wright Center for Graduate Medical Education Board of Directors. He is an expert in fields that include healthcare ethics, metaphysics, and political philosophy and a published author of scholarly articles on all three subjects. Dr. Baillie brings years of teaching experience, both locally, at the University of Scranton, and abroad, at several international universities, to his leadership role.

Dr. Baillie has worked as a medical consultant with several area healthcare facilities and as a professor of philosophy, emeritus, at The University of Scranton. He formerly served as the university’s provost and vice president for academic affairs. He also served as a visiting professor at a variety of international universities, including the Capital University of Economics and Business in Beijing, China, the Tbilisi State Medical University in Tbilisi, Georgia, and two Slovakian institutions: the University of Trnava and Comenius University. Domestically, he has been a visiting professor at the Yale University School of Medicine and Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio.

He received his bachelor’s degree from Yale University and his master’s degree and doctorate from Boston College.
