Justin Nelson is an experienced content strategist and producer currently employed at theGrio since January 2022. Responsibilities include packaging, scheduling, and strategizing new content for YouTube and OTT services, collaborating with producers and design teams, and creating optimized assets for various social media platforms. Previously, Justin served as a production assistant, supporting content creation and coordinating various production processes. Earlier in the career, Justin worked as a videographer/editor at Halfhaven Media, producing original video content and editing using Adobe CC and Final Cut. A brief internship at CNN allowed Justin to monitor news cycles, pitch story ideas, and assist on local shoots. Justin holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Radio/Television/Film from Rowan University, earned in 2019.

TheGrio features aggregated and original video packages, news articles, and blogs on topics from breaking news, politics, health, business, and entertainment, which concern its niche audience. The goal of TheGrio is to be the news portal that satisfies the desire of African-Americans to stay informed and connected with their community.
