Ryan Smyth's work experience begins in 2000 when they worked as a Technical Engineer for CTV, where they were responsible for live switching, audio, video editing, and server-based output. Ryan then became a Technical Director and oversaw server-based video transmission for on-air broadcasts at TSN - The Sports Network - Canada from 2008 to 2015. From 2012 to 2015, Smyth owned and served as the President of One Second Left.

In 2015, Smyth joined the Anaheim Ducks as a Sports Specialist, where they implemented and handled player human performance technology for NHL, AHL, and prospects within the organization. Their responsibilities included indoor RFID, optical tracking, heart rate monitoring, force plates, gymawares, hydration management, sleep tracking, daily weigh-ins, daily wellness monitoring, watt bikes, kbox, camp testing, nutrition, analysis, and reporting.

Smyth then transitioned to the Maine Nordiques in 2019 as the Organization Sports Science Director, overseeing player wellness, athlete assessments, and daily monitoring. In 2017, they worked as a Senior Sports Technologist at Movella, focusing on player tracking, daily monitoring, and combines/team testing for sports teams and leagues.

From 2014 to the present, Smyth has served as the President and CEO of The Park Sports Facility Inc. Ryan leads a team that conducts athletic assessments and testing, incorporating technology to provide insights into athletes' abilities. Additionally, The Park can connect with existing systems to provide monthly reports based on collected data.

Smyth's most recent position is as the VP of Product and Content at TheProgram.ai, a role they have held since 2022. The Program offers athletic assessments and training programs, providing athletes with professional-grade development tools to stay motivated, connected, and on track through a smartphone application.

Ryan Smyth attended Niagara College from 1998 to 2001, where they earned a degree in Broadcasting with a focus on Radio and Television Broadcasting Technology/Technician. Additionally, they have obtained several certifications in various fields. In 2016, they completed a course titled "The Foundations of Heart Rate Variability" through HRVcourse.com. In 2019, they received the "Respect in sport" certification from the Ontario Hockey Federation and the "Coach 1" certification from Hockey Canada. In 2020, they achieved certifications in "Making head way in sport" from Coach.ca, as well as "Nccp emergency plan," "Planning a safe return," and "Safe sport training" from Hockey Canada and Coach.ca. Moreover, they obtained certifications in "Hockey skills 1," "Hockey skills 2," "Skating 1," and "Skating 2" from the Ontario Hockey Federation in October 2020. Lastly, in September 2022, they obtained the "Online CPR/AED and First Aid Combo Course" certification from Rescue7.
