Sixto Cancel

Sixto Cancel is the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Think of Us, a nonprofit research and design lab focused on transforming the U.S. child welfare system since January 2015. As a Jim Casey Fellow at the Annie E. Casey Foundation since July 2010, Sixto provides thought leadership and advocacy for systems change in child welfare, particularly for young people aging out of foster care. Previous experience includes serving as a member of the Youth Innovation Advisory Board at Dell from April 2014 to April 2017, where Sixto advised on the intersections of youth, education, and technology, and as a Program Assistant at the Virginia Community College System, developing youth engagement programs for foster youth in 2013. From 2008 to 2011, Sixto held roles at the NAACP as State Treasurer for the Youth and College Division and as Chair of the A Voice to be Heard Youth Leadership Board at the Connecticut Department of Children and Families, focusing on the needs of youth in foster care. Sixto holds an education degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, obtained between 2011 and 2016.
