Tony van Marken

Tony van Marken has worked in the information technology sector for over 16 years. In 2004, they began working as an Advisor for Walsingham Growth Partners. From 2005 to present, they have been a Motivational Speaker. In 2015, they co-founded First Ascent Ventures, where they served as Managing Partner. In 2016, they became Chairman and Investor of Q4. In 2017, they became a Director and Investor of Sensibill, and in 2018 they became a Mentor for the Creative Destruction Lab and a Director and Investor for ThinkData Works. In 2019, they became a Board Observer and Investor for Dialogue, and in 2021 they became a Director and Investor for Potloc and Andgo Systems.

Tony van Marken began their educational journey at South African College School, where they obtained a Matric in 1981. Tony then attended the University of Cape Town, where they earned a B.Sc. in Computer Science in 1984. In 1988, they graduated from the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika with a B.Comm in Economics and Business Management. In 1999, they attended Northwestern University - Kellogg School of Management for an Executive Education program in e-Commerce. In 2007, they completed an Executive Education Director's Induction Course (JSE) at the University of the Witwatersrand. Finally, in 2009, they graduated from the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford with an Oxford Strategic Leadership Program (OSLP) in Organizational Leadership. Additionally, in 2007, Tony obtained an Open Water certification from PADI.
