Abhijit Kamerkar

Abhijit Kamerkar has extensive work experience in the field of formulation and drug product development. Abhijit is currently serving as the Director of Formulation and Drug Product Development at Third Harmonic Bio since October 2021. Prior to this, they worked as an Associate Director of Downstream Process Development at Kaleido Biosciences from May 2021 to October 2021.

From 2018 to 2021, Abhijit held various roles at Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR), including Associate Director of CMC and Senior Scientist of CMC Development. In these positions, they managed all drug product-related technical activities, such as R&D, scale-up, manufacturing, and quality and clinical pharmacy support for early-stage clinical molecules. Abhijit also handled non-technical activities like supply chain management and brand development.

Before joining NIBR, Abhijit worked as a Program Manager of CMC at Akebia Therapeutics from November 2017 to June 2018. Prior to that, they held multiple positions at Acorda Therapeutics, Inc., including Scientist II and Scientist I in Formulation & Process Development, and Research Associate in Formulation & Process Development, from July 2011 to November 2017.

Abhijit started their career as a Formulation Chemist at Innoteq, Inc. from March 2010 to July 2011.

Overall, Abhijit Kamerkar has a strong background in formulation and process development within the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, with experience in various managerial and technical roles.

Abhijit Kamerkar holds a Master of Science degree in Pharmaceutics and Drug Delivery Systems, which they obtained from Northeastern University. Prior to that, they completed their undergraduate studies in Pharmacy at the Institute Of Chemical Technology. Additionally, Abhijit has obtained several certifications throughout their career. In 2010, they received a certification in Biosafety and Biosecurity - Minimizing the risks in a laboratory from the Association of Public Health Laboratories. In 2020, they earned a Regulatory Affairs Certificate in Pharmaceuticals from the Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society (RAPS). Furthermore, Abhijit obtained a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt - Technical certification from the ASQ - World Headquarters in August 2021, and a Failure Modes and Effect Analysis – Process certification from the same institution in December 2020.
