Tom Welch

Tom Welch has a wealth of experience in the IT and security fields. Tom began their career in 2008 as an Assistant to Prof. Shang-Hua Yang at Loughborough University. In 2012, they joined Boots UK as a Test Analyst, Store Support Advisor, and Customer Service Representative. In 2014, they became a Graduate Quality Assurance Engineer (Test Automation) at Grass Valley - A Belden Brand. From 2015 to 2017, they worked at MHR as a Test Automation Lead and Automation Test Analyst. In 2017, they joined Capital One as a Principal Application Security Engineer, Senior Application Security Engineer, and Senior Software Quality Engineer (Mobile App Automation). From 2020 to 2022, they worked at Lockwood Publishing Ltd as Head of IT Security and at Snyk as a Staff Product Security Engineer. Tom is currently employed at Thirdfort as Head of Information Security.

Tom Welch obtained their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in History from the University of York between 2008 and 2011. Tom then went on to pursue a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) in History and Philosophy of Science and Technology at the University of Cambridge, which they completed in 2012. In 2014, they obtained the BCS Certified Tester Foundation Level from the International Software Testing Qualifications Board. Two years later, in 2016, they obtained the ISTQB® Certified Tester Advanced Level, Technical Test Analyst from the same institution.
