Eric Peng

Project Scientist, Wide-field Optical Spectrometer at TMT International Observatory LLC

Eric Peng is an experienced astronomer and project scientist currently affiliated with NSF's NOIRLab, where responsibilities include leading the US Extremely Large Telescope Program. Since 2016, Eric has served as a project scientist for the Wide-Field Optical Spectrometer at TMT International Observatory, LLC, while also contributing as a member of the Science Advisory Committee. Additionally, Eric is a scientific council member at the Centre de Données astronomiques de Strasbourg and part of the organizing committee for the International Astronomical Union's Commission H4 on Star Clusters. Previous roles include visiting scholar at the Center for Astrophysics | Harvard & Smithsonian, associate professor with tenure at Peking University, and co-chair of China's Telescope Access Program. Eric holds a Bachelor's degree in Astrophysical Sciences from Princeton University and a Ph.D. in Astronomy and Astrophysics from The Johns Hopkins University.
