Valerie Kipnis

Valerie Kipnis is a producer with extensive experience in journalism and media. Currently a producer at This American Life since July 2022, Kipnis has been selected as an NPR 'Above The Fray' Fellow for a six-month reporting role focusing on the ecological crisis in Uzbekistan. Previous roles include producer and reporter at VICE News, where work involved research, pitching, and on-air package production, and contributing to significant projects like "Russian Democracy" for VICE on HBO. Kipnis's early career includes freelance writing for The Moscow Times and various production roles at VICE Media and CODA Story. Educational achievements include an MFA in Non-fiction Writing from The New School and a degree from New York University in subjects like creative non-fiction and political philosophy.
