Research Director at Thornhill Medical

Olivia Sobczyk has a diverse work experience in the field of medical research and academia. Olivia started their career as a Research Assistant at University Health Network in October 2009, where they worked until September 2012. In this role, Olivia contributed to literature reviews, stayed updated with current research, and assisted in developing novel research questions.

Following their time as a Research Assistant, Olivia became a Lab Manager at Thornhill Medical in October 2009. In this position, they planned, implemented, and coordinated data collection efforts, participated in project design, and conducted mid-level experimental data analysis.

After their tenure as a Lab Manager, Olivia moved to a role as a Postdoctoral Fellow at University Health Network in November 2017. Here, they assisted in developing new imaging analysis concepts and software, conducted statistical analyses, and modified methods to provide new insights into neurovascular aspects of various neurological diseases. Olivia ended their role as a Postdoctoral Fellow in December 2019.

In December 2019, Olivia transitioned to the role of Scientific Associate II at University Health Network. In this role, they performed literature reviews, delivered findings in presentations and conferences, and collaborated with principal investigators to establish scientific approaches.

Olivia's most recent position is as a Scientist at Thornhill Medical, which they started in November 2012. In this role, they have been a key contributor to prospective clinical study execution, managed clinical research studies, provided clinical input during product development, and assisted in product training for investigational products.

Olivia Sobczyk obtained a Bachelor of Medical Science in Medical Biophysics from Western University, where they studied from 2003 to 2007. Olivia then pursued a Master of Science in Biomedical Physics at Ryerson University from 2007 to 2009. Continuing their education, they attended the University of Toronto for their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Medical Science from 2012 to 2017.
