Thornton Fractional High School District 215
Mary VanRoosendaal has extensive experience as a French teacher, currently serving at Thornton Fractional High School District 215 since August 2009. Prior roles include teaching at Summit Hill Jr. High, where Mary instructed introductory French courses, and at Adlai E. Stevenson High School, where Mary taught French I and II in collaboration with colleagues on curriculum development. Earlier in Mary’s career, instruction at Rich East High School involved teaching multiple subjects including AP French and Spanish, alongside extracurricular leadership in the French National Honor Society and French Club, which earned recognition as "Club of the Year." Mary holds a Master of Arts in French Studies from Bowling Green State University and has pursued additional coursework in ESL and foreign language instruction.

Thornton Fractional Township High School District 215 is located in south suburban Cook County and serves 3,500+ students from Burnham, Calumet City, Lansing, and Lynwood, which collectively have more than 80,000 residents. The district serves students in grades 9 through 12 and is comprised of two public comprehensive high schools - Thornton Fractional North (TF North) and Thornton Fractional South (TF South) – as well as Thornton Fractional Center for Academics & Technology (TF Center) and Thornton Fractional Center for Alternative Learning (TF CAL).
